A whole new view welcomes those using the busy Talbot Village roundabout where roads leading from the University car park, the Arts Institute and the village converge.
This project arose as a result of complaints from motorists experiencing sight-line problems due to overgrown phormiums and other vegetation close to the edge of the roundabout. The roundabout was also looking tired & uninspiring.
Discussions followed with the Talbot Village Residents Association, the Arts Institute and local Ward Councillors, and a contemporary low-maintenance design was drawn up by Leisure Services' Landscape Technician, Dumitru Furnea.
The roundabout now boasts a hololith, two monoliths and several different size and colour of boulders & pebbles, interspersed with a range of low-level planting. Two maple trees are the only features remaining of the original design.
Works were completed 10th August 2009.
