Early one May morning, in the
beautiful surroundings of Poole Park, our Greenspace Manager
Clare Freeman met with a crew from Outdoors and Health Network to
promote Poole's free outdoor fitness facilities through the medium
of film.
The film will be used
nationally to stress the importance of undertaking research into
the relationship between individuals’ health and well-being and
their use of the outdoors.
It features Dr William Bird,
natural health advisor to Natural England, whose research is
already proving that it is ‘cheaper’ to provide ways for people to
enjoy an active lifestyle than it is to treat the symptoms that
may arise from a more sedentary existence.
Leisure Services is very
grateful to regular users Claire Ryan-East, Ken Hunter,
Gareth Broom and David Lax for giving up their time and a
fair amount of physical effort as they brilliantly demonstrated
the equipment.
The
Outdoors and Health Network commissioned this short film to explain the research that has been undertaken and explain the focus for future research into the connections between health and the outdoors.
