Bourne Valley play area

14th October 2011

This project was led by the Bourne Valley Action Group (BVAG).

Latest:

THE new play area was officially opened on Saturday, 15th October!

In August 2011 residents joined contractors, Huck Play (Huck Installations) Ltd and Leisure Services to be a part of the ‘staking out' process for the new play area. The site for each piece of equipment was marked out on the ground using tape and stakes as residents made suggestions for the best locations.

The play area was installed during September and officially opened on Saturday, 15th October.

Kerry Manning, an active member of BVAG, is thrilled with the play area, she said: “I’m a mum of four and the lack of play facilities on the estate has given me the drive to achieve this fantastic project as our children desperately need somewhere safe to play. It will also be a great space for the whole community”.

The play area is the result of BVAG listening to local people and actively implementing positive ideas to make their community a better place; over 350 people have been consulted about the play area’s location and purpose since last November in their bid to produce a community project that everyone can feel a part of.

Local children's ideas have shaped the design and types of play equipment that have been selected through the hundreds of surveys in local schools and youth clubs carried out by BVAG in partnership with Children and Young People’s Services.
