Alderney West MUGA

18th January 2010

Officially opened by the Mayor of Poole on Saturday, 16th January 2010.

Named the Bob Dugdale Sports Park in honour of of the late Councillor Bob Dugdale who represented Poole's Alderney Ward for more than a decade.

Work started on Monday 12th October to tarmac the car park and construct a new multi-use games area (MUGA) with lighting at Alderney West Community Centre, Bedford Road South.

The ball court is suitable for football, cricket, basketball and other ball games for all ages.  The surfaced area to the front of the Community Centre has been painted with play activities for toddlers and young children, chosen by users of the Centre and the Youth Club.

This project represents a major investment in an area of Poole that has very few other play facilities to entertain the high number of young residents.

One local resident said, “This is fantastic! We have been waiting so long for facilities for children and young people living in the area, the youth club has been a fantastic resource run locally by volunteers and the MUGA is now an added bonus, we are all thrilled”.
