OFFICIAL
OPENING Friday, 9th April - all welcome!
Work started on
this improvement project on 7th December, and we had hoped to
complete by Christmas but the weather was against us, bringing frozen
ground that became deep mud when it thawed.
We were finally
able to return to site to level and seed the damaged areas on 3rd
February. Two large areas remain fenced off to give the new
grass a chance to grow.
The old play
equipment has been re-painted, and the old rubber surfacing is due
to be cleaned by the end of February.
Much of
the new play equipment is set into what is called 'grassmat'; grass
will eventually grow through it to retain the natural look of the
space. The mat prevents wear-and-tear and provides a softer
landing for falls.
A new
litter bin will be installed March/April.

Play designs
were drawn up by Landscape Architect Hilary Martin based around
the wishes expressed by young people and play area users during the
consultation. They include some improvements for the under 8s.
