Participants who completed the questionnaire: From the school 46 questionnaires were completed. 19 by males and 27 by females. The ages were spread from 7-12 yrs with the majority being aged 9-11. All of those who completed the questionnaire live in the BH16 postcode. “The field” next to Pavilion Park was mentioned most frequently as their favourite place to play and Foreland Road Park was mentioned by over a quarter of respondents as the park they visited most. The preference for activities was as follows:
About Turlin Moor Pavilion play area particularly: 45 pupils made comments on how they would like to see Turlin Moor Pavilion site improved. Keep in the park: Again the swings were mentioned 26 times as the most popular piece of equipment to be kept in the park. The following order was given for other pieces of equipment that young people would like to see kept (numbers in brackets):
Change in the park: The most popular change to the park would be to the climbing apparatus (the same number as would like to keep it, see above). Other changes are suggested below:
Additions to the park: “More play things added like those on Upton Rec – exercise equipment” (F, aged 11) “Make the apparatus bigger and put a long zip wire in and a few ramps for bikes. Change the swings to tyre swings. Put a see saw in and a big swimming pool for older children. A really swirly slide joined to the climbing frame” (F, aged 10) F = female M = male |
