Home 22 Play Areas by Ward be Involved

Other play areas

Listed below are the 21 play areas not included in the Playbuilder programme, many of which have already been improved through the use of other funding.

Selection criteria were agreed with Play England and those sites that would not qualify include:

  • play areas that are new, newly refurbished or undergoing refurbishment (11 sites)

  • play areas on land that is not owned by the Borough of Poole

  • play areas that are unsuitable for improvement for the age group specified in the funding agreement (8-13 yrs).

Also taken into account during the selection process was:

  • Poole's Social Deprivation Index and Local Areas of Need

  • the availability of other funding (such as ward-based Planning Obligations) to carry out play area improvements at another time.  Where significant funding is available the play area(s) are unlikely to have qualified for Playbuilder funding

  • safe travel and access (e.g. is the site directly accessible from a cycleway?)
