  • OFFICIALLY OPENED by Councillor Mike Wilkins on Monday 15th February 2010

We have installed some great new play equipment for the 8-13 yr olds - a spinning rope Cone Climber, challenging timber Jungle Climber and an exciting Basket Swing.  We have also added a new 'Drum Spinner' - the only one in Dorset, and proving to be very popular with the older age group.

Work started on site on Monday 9th November, and the play area re-opened on 3rd December 2009.  We plan to return to install some seating and a litter bin before March.

Progress in pictures (click on any image below to enlarge it):

15th Feb, officially opened by Cllr Mike Wilkins and local school children

15th Feb, Joel & Jade from Oakdale at their fifth opening (and ice cream!) of the day

15th Feb, the aerial cableway was completed in time for the opening

15th Feb; local young residents registering their approval of the improvements

9th Dec, still too wet to complete the aerial cableway - we'll be back

11th Feb 2010; the invitation goes out for the official opening on Monday

3rd Dec, the old equipment has been painted and overlaid the rubber surfacing for a clean new look

3rd Dec, re-opened and ready to use!

23rd Nov, installing the jungle climber in very muddy ground!

24th Nov, our intrepid team (L-R Howard, Richard & Gordon) laying green woodchip play surfacing

18th Nov, installing one end of the aerial cableway

19th Nov, rubber play surfacing installed below the cone climber

16th Nov, it looks like a paddling pool but it's for the cone climber!

16th Nov, a timber frame for the basket swing

16th Nov, the old equipment is being repainted (several 'swing barriers' have been removed)

16th Nov, the new drum spinner installed - the first of its kind in Dorset!
