* £40,000
Playbuilder funding for Alexandra Park is augmented by up to £20,000 Planning Obligations funding
available for children's play in the Penn Hill ward.
Work that started on the installation of the new rebound wall
(8th December) was halted when neighbours expressed concerns about
the design.
On 15th
February 2010 the project came under review due to
the ongoing concerns of local residents
9th March
- the go-ahead is given, subject to minor revisions to the
original design (see below). We hope to make a start
on site on or around 18th March
Images below have been created using recent photos of the park
superimposed with photos of the same play equipment sited in
other open spaces in Poole.
Their
sole purpose is to provide an impression of how the new
facilities will fit into the park landscape. The scale cannot
be guaranteed, but is a close representation:

A mock-up
of the
rebound wall re-oriented (north-south); the bowling green is
to the left and the fenced play area to the right.
It will be fronted by a special all-weather synthetic
sports surface in
green
A mock-up
of the
zip wire, moved from the central area of the park to run
alongside the footpath past the play area
A mock-up
of the buddy swing proposed for the park
(for
safety, and to prevent wear-and-tear, the swing will require a
green 'grassmat' surface below it, as does the zip wire)
The
original design for play (November 2009) - following
discussions with residents the zip wire has been moved and the
rebound wall re-oriented (see
above)
